Simulating the Bullet Cluster
We present high resolution N-body/SPH simulations of the interacting cluster 1E0657−56. The main and the sub-cluster are modeled using extended cuspy ΛCDM dark matter halos and isothermal β-profiles for the collisional component. The hot gas is initially in hydrostatic equilibrium inside the global potential of the clusters. We investigate the X-ray morphology and derive the most likely impact ...
متن کاملSimulating cluster-ion impacts
Although cluster-ion interactions may superficially appear to resemble those in nuclear physics, there are important differences. First, at the energies of interest the deBroglie wavelength of an atom in the cluster is so short compared to atomic dimensions that the atom's trajectory in a solid is classical. Thus, one may use the Born-Oppenheimer approximation in which the particles all obey Ne...
متن کاملSimulating and Visualising Sedimentary Cluster-Cluster Aggregation
Recent simulations of diffusion limited cluster-cluster aggregation (DLCA) have shown systematic inhomogeneities in the shape and orientation of clusters formed when a sedimentary force is applied. Using custom simulation and visualisation techniques and programs we have carried out a microscopic study of these sedimentary inhomogeneities and have mapped out the model parameter space. We find v...

Each reader is first asked to reflect upon the question: "Is a non killing society possible?" If not, why not? If yes, why?l For the purpose of the question, a non killing society is taken to be a human commu nity from smallest to largest encompassing all humankind that has the following characteristics: There is no killing of humans, at least, and no threats to kill. There are no weapons for ...
